What happens to your novel?

My second novel is now undergoing the process of editing. It has gone through the mechanical rigors of copy editing, and has been turned over to the conceptual editor. This can be a lot like turning one's kid loose into the  wild world of public school. Having done what I can do alone, now it's time for the  real world to have some influence.

Actually, I like this part of the game. For now I get to sharpen my wits, my intellect, my creativity; and make something more of what I've already written.

To wit: my first novel, though reasonably good, admittedly did need some fine tuning, and also needed an epilogue. It made more sense when it was completed than when I began. And even though it does leave the reader hanging a bit, it does fulfill some of the needs of the reader. And yet, it definitely leaves the reader wanting the second part to be there. And that, my friends, is where the second novel comes into play.

So I would ask that you bear with me as I struggle to make this second novel even better than the first. For I do believe that it is, and will be. And then the third part should be better yet.

But then, that is me talking.
